GOVERNMENT HOUSE HONG KONG
(117)
11 September 1992
Governor's Visit to London:" November 1992
I am sorry it has taken me so long to reply to your letter of 24 August, but I have now had an opportunity to go through it in detail with the Governor.
You are absolutely right to think that Mr. Patten will want to take appropriate opportunities to "sell" his 7 October proposals in London. He would be grateful if you would include the following in his programme:-
(a) Westminster:
(b) Media:
a session with the British-Hong Kong Parliamentary Group;
a session with the Conservative Party Back-Bench Committee on Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs;
a meeting with Jack Cunningham and Alan Rogers;
a meeting with Paddy Ashdown;
a meeting with David Howell (not the whole FAC).
one breakfast meeting with diplomatic editors/leader writers at Cowley Street (preferably not on the Monday);
lunch with the lobby correspondents (already arranged for 17 November);
