Good news is that the only working military alliance in the world will now be putting a major effort into peace-keeping. NATO already helping in Yugoslavia.
Iraq
UN has successfully dismantled Iraq's WMD programme. Still keeping up the pressure on Saddam Hussein's regime. Protecting the Kurds. In 1992 extended protection to the Marsh Arabs in the South. Consistency will bring the real prize, the fall of the regime.
United Nations
UN is now at the centre of world events. 13 peace-keeping operations: Yugoslavia, Cambodia, Somalia, Cyprus, Lebanon, etc. Tone set by Summit under UK
chairmanship in January. Boutros-Ghali's 'Agenda for Peace'. UK's active role as Permanent Member of the Security Council.
