HM OVERSEAS CIVIL SERVICE (HMOCS): POSTS IN OTHER DEPENDENT
TERRITORIES (DTs)
1.
The Governor of Hong Kong wrote to the PUS on 20 August asking whether Hong Kong HMOCS officers might receive priority
consideration for posts in other Dependent Territories. The
PUS replied that while we did not see a strong case for this,
applications from these officers would be considered on their
merits and on an equal basis alongside Diplomatic Service
applications. The PUS also offered to extend to HMOCS
officers, on an equal basis with other candidates, the
opportunity to transfer to the Diplomatic Service on pensionable terms.
2. The Governor has written again welcoming this offer and
asking whether it would be possible to increase the ceiling of
places at DS5 or to include one or two posts at DS4. He has also sought clarification on pension arrangements for
candidates who are found suitable.
