You should also complete and return the enclosed Passage Agreement in triplicate. On receipt of the completed Passage Agreement, arrangement will be made to provide you with an air passage in accordance with Clause 10 of the Memorandum and you will be informed of the earliest date on which you can depart for Hong Kong to take up the appointment.

Advance of salary and baggage allowance can be made available in accordance with Appendices I and VI of the Memorandum. If such advance are required, please complete and return the enclosed claim forms.

In order to enable the Hong Kong Government to plan the arrival of newly appointed officers in accordance with the availability of quarters and other resources, it is necessary to regulate the appointment and arrival of selected candidates to avoid as far as possible their having to spend prolonged periods in hotels or other temporary accommodation. In the circumstances, when this provisional offer of appoint- ment is confirmed on satisfactory completion of all the recruitment formalities, you will be informed of the earliest date on which you can depart for Hong Kong to take up the appointment. Please read the "Quartering Guide" attached which explains eligibility to Governmer.t Quarters, and the application procedures. The situation on the availability of quarters is always very fluid. Every effort is made to match supply of accommodation to demand, but new appointees need to be prepared to spend lengthy periods in hotels or other temporary accommodation before being allocated their own permanent quarter. You are accordingly advised to seek up-to-date information from this Office, particularly if accommodation is a factor crucial to your consideration of employment in Hong Kong.
