FEDERATION OF MALAYA GOVERNMENT GAZETTE

An Ordinance to amend the Federation of Malaya

Agreement, 1948.

(7th February, 1957.]

IT IS HEREBY ENACTED by the High Commis- sioner of the Federation of Malaya and Their Highnesses the Rulers of the Malay States with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council as follows:

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Federation of Malaya Agreement (Amendment No. 4) Ordinance, 1956.

2. There shall be inserted in the Federation of Malaya Agreement, 1948 (in this Ordinance referred to as "the Agreement") immediately after Clause 14A thereof the following two new clauses-

"Preserva. tion of

14B. (1) All pensions, gratuities or other like pensions, etc. allowances which have been or which may be, granted to any persons who have been, and have ceased to be, public officers at any time before the 1st day of July, 1957, or to the widows, children, dependants or personal representatives of such persons, shall be governed by the law under which they were granted, or, if granted after that date, by the law in force on that date, or, in either case, by any law made thereafter which is not less favourable.

(2) All pensions, gratuities and other like allowances which may be granted to persons who are public officers on the aforesaid date, or to the widows, children, dependants or personal represen- tatives of such persons, shall be governed by the law in force on that day or by any law made thereafter which is not less favourable.

(3) Any pension, gratuity or allowance which may be granted to any person who may be appointed to be a public officer after the aforesaid date, or to the widow, children, dependants or personal representatives of any such person shall be governed by the law in force on the day on which such person is so appointed or by any law made thereafter which is not less favourable.
