However, the proposal would only affect an officer's entitlement to any compensation and incentive scheme that HMG may put in place for members of HMOCS. deadline would not prevent an officer from transferring at a later date if he decided to do so. I do not think the date of 31 March 1993 unreasonable, but in view of your point about some of the medical examinations not being completed by then, I propose a deadline of 30 April 1993. This should give the officers concerned almost 6 months from the date of HMG's announcement in which to make a decision.

We hope to let you have sight of a draft statement soon, and thereafter to submit to Ministers. In the meantime, you may wish to give some thought to the appropriate distribution of the statement once it is finalised.
