Parliamentary uestion 1com

Ivor unbrook given by M. Talcoln Rifkind on 7th June 1985.

xiation is in regular contact with the long long wemmen: ทา matters relating to pensionable overseas fficers, most of whom are members of DCS. This contact Includes discussion ca arrangements for those overseas

Owever, there are a number of questions relating to the Simulation after 30th June 1997 which can only be properly

it the J.K.3.A.R. of China Government. Decause most our pensionable members are members of DOCS and not being Chinese Nationals are, according to the Joint Declaration, unlikely to be qualified to obtain permanent identity cards and thus have a right of abode in Hong Kong, their status in Hong Kong Lust be considered temporary. It is therefore only natural and appropriate we feel, that this Association seek to obtain answers direct from Her Majesty's Government, there being no other authority related to Hong Kong apart from the Government of China existing now, which will exist after 30th June 1997.

We wish to know what progress is being made in consideration of a public officer's agreement or what other

arrangments

are envisaged for safe-guarding HMDCS members' pensions. This is of particular concern to our members who are about to retire to many different parts of the world and who would want to be at ease in their minds during their retirement years that

their pension payments were

Although

secure.
