Terms of Employment of Overseas Officers
Please refer to Civil Service Branch Circular No. 6/85 and my memorandum (86) in AP 241/44-C of 2 July 1987 which announced the extension of the deadline for applications for transfer to the permanent establishment from 30 3eptember 1987 to 31 March 1988.

During the extended period referred to above, as at 15 March 1988, 24 applications have been received. However, there have been requests for more time to be allowed for officers to make up their minds on whether or not to apply. In the circumstances, it has been decided that the deadline should be further extended to 31 March 1989.

The intention as regards applications already received but not yet processed and any others received before 1 April 1988 is that they will be processed as soon as possible, and, other than in exceptional circumstances, not later than 30 June 1988.
because most officers wish to have an early decision on their applications. Applications made during the further period of extension will be processed as soon as possible after receipt.

I should be grateful if you would bring this decision to the attention of all overseas agreement officers in your department.
