TSING MA BRIDGE PROJECT
You may have seen that
that the weekly paper Construction News carried an article in its edition of 5th March about the Tsing Ma Bridge. It attributed information to me even though the journalist never spoke to me at any stage. I wrote to Construction News to protest and received by return a letter of apology admitting that the story had no basis in fact. I have written to Sir David Ford in Hong Kong enclosing this correspondence and I am now enclosing for your information all these letters.
The Communist controlled press in Hong Kong (the Wen Wei Po) has picked up the Construction News story and reproduced parts of it in its edition of 7th March, including the reference to me. I am writing to the Wen Wei Po's London correspondent enclosing my correspondence with Construction News. I shall also write to the Chinese Ambassador, with whom we have established a friendly relationship over this project.
