Shenzhen road maintenance fees

I complained about the lack of consultation over the raising of road maintenance fees by Shenzhen on 1 January. I also expressed surprise at the rise, commenting that neither side should do anything to hamper contacts and trade. Huang Qun and Chen Wenli said that this had been done by Shenzhen without consulting the provincial authorities. They clearly were not too happy about it themselves.

Transport between Shenzhen airport and Hong Kong

I asked whether a decision had been reached on Citybus's application to operate a service between Shenzhen airport and Hong Kong. Huang Qun said it was still being

studied.

Importation of Labour

I handed over details of the new scheme for 25,000. Huang Qun said that Guangdong would help expedite the processing of applications.

Daya Bay

I again asked for an early start to discussions on contingency plans. Huang Qun said that the Guangdong plan was now being studied by Peking. Once approved, discussions with Hong Kong could start. He hoped this could be later this year.
