Following Max Todd's letter of 29 May, and Emma Williams's interim reply of 7 July, I wonder when we might expect a response from the Inland Revenue.

The issue is somewhat pressing, since we understand that the new practice will adversely affect the position of all officers leaving HK Government service and taking up UK residence on or after 6 April this year.

Incidentally, there may well be support for our position from the ODA, since presumably officers they have overseas will be similarly

recruited

for

disadvantaged.
