more, unless he so desires, than show the holder of the

letter some ordinary civility such as an

invitation to lunch

or dine at Government House, and possibly arrange for a

member of his staff to give the visitor such advice as he

may need as to the best way of conducting his journey.

29.

UNIFORMS

29.1

Governors in Dependent Territories, unless at the time of their appointment they hold the rank of Rear Admiral, Major

General, Air Vice Marshal, or upwards (in which case they will during their tenure of office continue to be entitled

to wear their Naval, Military or Air Force uniforms) will be entitled to wear on appropriate occasions the Full Dress (blue) or Tropical (white) uniform prescribed for them.

The entitlement varies with local conditions and is at

present as laid down below:-

The cost of a uniform or uniforms as laid down above will be

met from FCO funds on first appointment. Alternatively, if a Governor-designate already has a suitable uniform which

requires alterations or cleaning, or inherits a uniform from a predecessor, the cost of this may be reimbursed.
