The Aide-de-Camp or Private Secretary should make detailed arrangements beforehand with the organisers as to the exact hour at which the Governor should arrive for any function,
and the exact spot at which he will be met, and by whom. is generally desirable that the Police should be notified in order that traffic may be so regulated that the Governor's

It should be remembered that the organiser of nearly every
function in the Territory is anxious
anxious to secure the
Governor's patronage, and that, except in a small territory, it would be physically impossible for the
Governor to attend all. It is essential that the Governor
should attend some functions, but if he attends a concert given by one school he will be expected to attend concerts given by other schools; if he attends an
if he attends an entertainment given
by one club he will be expected to attend all club
entertainments.
For this reason great care is necessary in
selecting the functions which the Governor should attend, if
offence to others is to be avoided. On the other hand there

break the tradition.

On arrival in the Territory a Governor would probably be met
by the officer who had been administering the Government.
The Governor would normally land wearing uniform (or morning
dress) and be received by a Guard of Honour. The Chief Justice, Bishop, Members of Councils, Heads of Departments and other prominent persons would then probably be presented
the Governor.
