ANNUAL EXPENSES

6.

Governors are requested to supply the FCO with an annual

statement of the normal expenses to which they are put in

respect of such items as the maintenance of Government House

and grounds, lighting, furniture etc and of the various

amounts, in addition to the Governor's personal emoluments,

which are available from public funds to meet these

expenses. This information is not only helpful to the FCO

when briefing Governors-designate but also in FCO efforts to

improve general conditions of service and standards of

accommodation. It must, however, be emphasised that up-keep

of Government House is the responsibility of the local

Government, though a territory in receipt of Budgetary Aid

would be eligible to receive a special and additonal grant

for expenditure on Government House.

SALARY AND ALLOWANCES

Details of emoluments will be explained to

Governors-designate on an individual and personal basis by

the Personnel Operations Department.

7.

CUSTOMS DUTIES

In some Dependent Territories the Governor is exempted from

customs duty on goods imported by him for use at Government

House. In others he receives a special allowance in lieu of

exemption.
