THE LORRAIN OSMAN CASE: ANOTHER LETTER FROM MR CAHILL

CAVEAT

1.

Mr Cahill has written again to Sir J Coles (draft

replies to his last two letters, of 20 August and 3

September have just been submitted).

2. This latest letter, of 10 September, is confused and

confusing. He appears to believe that Sir J Coles has

forwarded to the Prime Minister a letter which he

(Cahill) wrote to Sir J Coles. As far as we aware

neither Sir J Coles nor anyone else in the FCO has done

any such thing. But Mr Cahill himself did apparently

send a copy of his 3 September letter to No 10.

The other remarks in Mr Cahill's letter about the

attitude of the Malaysian Prime Minister and his cryptic
