Dear Madam,
Re: R-v-George TAN Soon-gin
The WestLB Charges
Char
Hc
Further to the Attorney General's letter to you of 2nd November, 1988, I must advise you that the Attorney General has now decided that these charges will be prosecuted as a matter of priority.
It will be apparent to you that the return to Hong Kong of Lorrain Osman has been further delayed and we are given to understand that there is now no real prospect of the BMFL 'trial commencing for at least another 12 months.
In the circumstances it is felt that the publi interest and that of your client is best served by proce ing with these charges. As Messrs Grant and Harris will be in London until early July, no further steps (public or otherwise) will be taken until their return, upon which an application will be made on seven days' notice to list the case for mention before the Principal Magistrate and thereafter to provide for the transfer of this case for trial in the District Court.
In view of the earlier correspondence in this matter, I thought it incumbent on me to inform you of our decision at once.

Yours faithfully,
