LIST

I submit for Lord Caithness' approval the latest list of 34 British Undertakings approved by the Advisory Group on

6 March, as reported in BTC telno 80.

Mr Heap has expressed the hope that we and the DTI

might be able to approve these names quickly so that a

further supplementary list can be published as soon as

possible. The initial list of over 700 British

Undertakings was published on 12 February and the first

supplementary list of 55 companies shortly before the 28 February deadline. As applications are processed, the Advisory Group will probably need to consider other names

referred by the Immigration Department and further

supplementary lists may be necessary. But the numbers are

likely to continue to decline.

3. The names on the latest list have now been approved by the DTI, who ran a check at Companies House in respect of those which claim to have a connection with a British

registered company. Both we and the DTI are also satisfied that the Advisory Committee's recommendations have not deviated from the established guidelines.
