How very kind of you to write as you did about our impending visit to Hong Kong in September! Elspeth and I should be delighted to take advantage of your invitation, if we may.

Dates and details are still uncertain, not least because I am not sure how far it would be wise to seek an opportunity of visiting Peking and perhaps elsewhere in the PRC. I fancy the answer will be "yes", in which case I may need some guidance as to how best to set about it.

But I am in touch with Andrew Burns (and thus Alan Paul) about this and shall certainly keep you posted.
