Sir Geoffrey Howe's visit to Hong Kong and China

in the autumn

The Secretary of State spoke briefly to Sir Geoffrey Howe on the telephone this morning, 4 June. Sir Geoffrey told him that he is going to Hong Kong and China in September, to the latter country on business. The Secretary of State offered to send you or Mr Burns round to brief Sir Geoffrey. Sir Geoffrey would appreciate this and would be grateful if you would get in touch soon, this week, because he is off to Japan around the end of the week.

One thing the Secretary of State did not get from Sir Geoffrey Howe was the exact timing of the Hong Kong/China trip in September. It would obviously be useful to have the dates.
