Parliamentary Visits

On 22 April, the Governor gave lunch to Sir Michael Marshall MP. We did not realise at the time that Sir Michael was travelling with an IPU delegation en route for Peking and Pyongyang (!) Had we known this,

Lifem a programme. Ubviously our London office should also have alerted us to this visit and we are taking this up with them. But I would be grateful if you could check that the system is working properly at

One other point which the Governor has asked me to bring to your attention is that we have heard indirectly from one of the members of the IPU delegation that they were unimpressed by the briefing that they were given by the FCO. In particular, they apparently felt that they had not been given an adequate line on how to respond if the question of the new airport was raised with them while they were in Peking, or whether the Chinese would be expecting them to carry a message from HMG. Not very much to go on, but we thought that you would wish to be aware of it.
