I was very pleased to have the opportunity to visit the
Hong Kong Housing Authority's estate at Heng On. I was very impressed with the construction of the flats, the facilities
provided and, above all, by the good state of repair. It was evident from the warm reception we were given that you are succeeding in creating communities as well as buildings.
There is much we can learn from your example to apply in Britain. I was interested to learn that you are following our example in selling flats to their tenants. I am sure it will be
every bit as successful in Hong Kong as in Britain. Please thank Mr Fung Tong and all those who helped make the arrangements for the visit. Could you thank also Mr and Mrs Yau for allowing me
to see their flat. I hope they did not mind the intrusion of the world's press. My wife sends her thanks too for the beautiful bouquet of flowers.
