VISIT OF NEW ZEALAND PRIME MINISTER, 30 OCTOBER-2 NOVEMBER
1.
The New Zealand Prime Minister, Mr Jim Bolger, is to visit London as a guest of government from 30 October to 2 November. This will be his first substantive visit since he became Prime Minister last October, though he met the Prime Minister in London last December and keeps in regular contact by telephone. His programme will include a working dinner with the Prime Minister and discussions on a range of bilateral and multilateral issues with the Secretary of State. In particular, the visit will provide an opportunity to discuss topics of common interest after UNGA and CHOGM and before the winter GATT round. Our objective will be to encourage Mr Bolger's government towards increased participation in the international community in the light of global developments, especially in Eastern Europe and following the Bush Initiative.

I would be grateful to receive by 1700 on 24 October four copies of a full brief, ie points to make and background (unless otherwise stated in attached list), headed as in the title to this minute and followed by the number and title of your individual brief. You may, if you wish, change the title of your brief to match stock briefing.
