MUTUAL LEGAL ASSISTANCE CONFISCATION ARRANGEMENTS: ORDERS
1.
DESIGNATION
Please refer to the Attorney General's letter of 22 July to Miss Bourne informing us that the Cayman Islands have designated the United Kingdom under the Misuse of Drugs (Amendment) Law 1989.
2.
I have the honour to inform you that the Government of the United Kingdom has designated the Cayman Islands under the Drug Trafficking Offences Act 1986 and to enclose a copy of the designation order. The Order in Council designating the Caymans Islands under the Drug Trafficking Offences Act 1986 was passed at the Privy Council on 26 June and came into force on 1 July. The Arrangement between the United Kingdom and the Caymans Islands for the Provision of Mutual Assistance in the Restraint and Confiscation of the Proceeds of Drug Trafficking will come into operation on 28 August 1991.
3. I have the further honour to inform you that Scotland and Northern Ireland have also designated the Cayman Islands under their equivalent legislation.
