Hong Kong needs to process more quickly large numbers of applications for multiple visit permits submitted visitors from Taiwan.

It is recommended that

the two existing types of multiple visit permits issued to Taiwan visitors for social and business visits should be merged into one, with a one-year validity period as in the case of the existing permits;

jumbo multiple visit permits valid for two years should be introduced; and

under section 59 of the Immigration Ordinance, the Immigration (Amendment) Regulations 1991, at Annex should be made to provide for the issue of the jumbo permits.
