F. Chinese Language Courses
Chinese language courses were started in Trinity term 1990 in response to the demand within the University for opportunities outside the degree. course in Chinese to learn the language. Dr. Taotao Liu directs these courses at elementary and intermediate levels. They are held weekly in term time at the Oriental Institute.
G. Hong Kong: Network and Flows Project
Initiated by the University of California's Pacific Rim Research Programme and the University of Hong Kong, the Centre was invited in 1989 to join this collaborative project on Hong Kong's history, economy, society and culture. The Centre's representatives are Professor Glen Dudbridge and Dr. Steve Tsang.
IV. SEMINARS, LECTURES, CONFERENCES
Academic activities of the Centre, apart from regular research and teaching by Members, are organised in the form of regular seminars, special lectures and one-day workshops. Scholars and specialists in Chinese studies from outside Oxford are regularly invited to take part in these events.
