You may wish to know that Otmar Lenz, the Chief Executive of Lauda Air,

called on ASNU on 11 April while transitting Hong Kong.

He said he understood that the Austrian authorities would like to negotiate an ASA with Hong Kong, and asked how they should proceed. Norman Chan then took him through our ASA programme and outlined the procedures involved.

Lenz said he thought the Austrian authorities had probably already approached the UK authorities through diplomatic channel; if not, an approach be made. I would be grateful if you would let us know once you hear anything from the Austrians.

separate issue, it has just occurred to us that а temporary Operating Permit for the Summer 1991 Season was issued to Lauda Air without prior clearance with DTP.

We apologize for this oversight but trust that you would have no objection to the permit being issued.
