The HKMAO had 25 staff and was responsible for the

following areas:

(a)

policies in relation to Hong Kong and Macao;

(b) research into matters relating to Hong Kong and

Macao;

(c) foreign affairs in relation to

Hong Kong

and

Macao; and

(d) to manage the work of the Sino-British and

Sino-Portuguese JLGS and Land Commissions.

There were three departments in the HKMAO

First Department: responsible for daily affairs

in Hong Kong

Second Department: responsible for the work in

relation to the Sino-British

JLG and Land Commission

Third Department: all affairs relating to Macao
