One suggestion for the future
Chengde, the summer
resort we visited towards the end of the programme, was
5 hours by car each way from Beijing. Although the
summer palace and the temples were well worth a visit,
our time for sightseeing was limited because of the
long road journey.
It is understood that road
construction work is underway which would shorten the
road journey.
I would suggest that visits to Chengde
could be deferred until the road work is completed.
