prompted a substantial revision of this provision which will now require the SAR to enact laws prohibiting not only any act of "treason, secession, sedition, subversion against the Central People's Government, or theft of state secrets," and "to prohibit foreign political organizations or bodies from conducting political activities in the Region" - provisions which are difficult to criticise in principle - but also "to prohibit political organizations or bodies of the Region from establishing ties with foreign political organisations or bodies. How this latter provision is to be reconciled with the provisions in the Chapter of the Basic Law on fundamental rights remains to be seen.
