B: ORGANISATIONS

Details of Chinese organisations to parallel the above guidelines for important individuals will be maintained systematically, with the aim of being able to provide accurate and up to date information on the structure of the Chinese state and on who holds a particular post at any given time. Information on other organisations deemed from time to time to be of interest will be collected as appropriate. The records will show the title of the organisation (and where appropriate brief details of its organisational history), names of senior members of the organisation and the dates of their appointment and/or removal, details of subordinate departments (where appropriate).

C: VISITS

Records will be kept of the following types of foreign delegation to China: Heads of State, Prime Ministers, Foreign Ministers and Ministers of Defence. Other senior foreign delegations will only be carded if it is deemed appropriate. The record will include dates of the visit, name and rank of the leader and other significant members of the delegation, and brief details of whom they met and what they did, including any agreements signed. For the UK records will be kept of all Ministerial visits, and other appropriate senior visitors.

Records of outgoing visits on similar lines will be kept for the Chinese Head of State, Chairman of the NPC, Party Leaders

(Politburo level), Ministers of Foreign Affairs, MOFERT, and of National Defence. Other delegations will be carded as appropriate.
