I hold the rank of Senior Superintendent of (Senior Force Training Officer) and am responsible for the development of training for much of the Force. For understanding, the insignia for my rank is the same as that of ન Lieutenant Colonel in the army or a Chief Superintendent in United Kingdom police force.
In 1981 I was awarded the Colonial Police Long Service Medal and in 1988 a Bar to that medal. Both decorations are approved by the Queen.

Of more importance, on the 27th December 1985 I Was informed in a personal letter from His Excellency the Governor of Hong Kong that, "Her Majesty the Queen has awarded you the
Colonial Police Medal for Meritorious Service". That award notified in
the the New Year Honours List at the beginning 1786 and presented to me
in
a ceremony later that year.

My terms of service with Government include periods leave, with fares paid for my family and myself for the purpose of returning to the United Kingdom so that we may maintain our links there. That leave has been taken and we have returned to the United Kingdom on each occasion. The Hong Kong Government understands my country of origin to be the United Kingdom and I am expected to return there on retirement.

you may be aware, the Royal Hong Kong Police Force close links with the Armed Services with whom its officers work and, in relation to mess life, play. My connections the Services extend also to the training field not only Kong but also in the United Kingdom where I have made liaison/study visits to, and for short periods lived at, military training establishments, mostly for the training of officers. I have hosted visits to the Royal Hong Kong Police Training School by Royal Air Force officers, both for those posted here and for those on short visits from the United Kingdom.
From the foregoing you may surmise that I am in the permanent
service of the Crown, have been so for 26 years and have been honoured for that service by Her Majesty The Queen. My links with Britain, both in my official and private capacities, have been continuOUS and strong. Through my profession I have had
connections with the Armed Services of the Crown.
