Dear
Sir,
Application for University Cadetship Scheme
I refer to your letter referenced DASC/C/90085417 dated the 15th February, 1991 addressed to my son, Derek Ostin Broomfield. In the letter you informed him that the Ministry of Defence advise that they are unable to waive the requirement for five years residence in the United Kingdom in connection with his application. Inter alia you advised that if he establishes residence in
the United Kingdom for
.12 months or 50, would be possible to consider waiving part of the residence requirements".

In 1964 I was recruited in Britain as an Inspector the, then, Hong Kong Police Force. The title, "Royal", granted to the Force later. On joining the Force, I became member of Her Majesty's Overseas Civil Service and remain
