Dear the Leeds,
(37)
Thank you for your letter of 22 July to Alan Paul about pensions of HMOCS officers in Hong Kong. Alan Paul has now left this department, and I am standing in until
Peter Ricketts arrives in September.
As
I have read with interest your proposals on pension arrangements for retired HMOCS officers and have sent them
to the ODA, who deal with payments to all HMOCS officers. you know, HMOCS matters are the subject of discussions between the British and Hong Kong Governments. I regret that I cannot go into details, but you will know that Ministers continue to recognise fully the concerns of HMOCS members and HMG are in the process of drawing up appropriate arrangements for members of HMOCS in Hong Kong which recognise the change of sovereignty in 1997.
Your sincerely,
Max.
