will other ancillary developments like sea ports and road development, be affected at all or will they still

You are prejudging the situation. The situation is that

talks with the airport are still going on. We want them

to reach a successful conclusion. China wants them to

reach a successful conclusion. Hong Kong needs a new

airport. I have no doubt that a new airport will be built for Hong Kong because Kai Tak is reaching saturation point. Now we want to get into that position

so that work can start as soon as possible.

So you are rather hopeful at this stage, disregarding

what the talk was like last time?

No, I am actually just making a statement of fact that this is what we all want to happen. Now Hong Kong will continue to expand and thrive. It is a trading, business area. If one goes to Hong Kong now and you stand quite a way inland on the island, you will be told

this is actually where the sea came up to when people first arrived. They have reclaimed chunks, add another

bit, add another bit. And they will continue doing

this. Hong Kong will continue to develop.
