say we are not going to build the airport any more?

We are both considering what was discussed at the talks. We both put forward position papers and so we are

working on it.

Will Britain actually consider China's suggestion of forming something similar to the land commission in managing the airport discussion affairs?

Now you are taking me to areas of detail and you know that however attractive it is for you and I can quite

understand that, I am not going to comment on what we are discussing between talks. Obviously all this will be made plain when the talks have been finalised. But when we are doing negotiations it is actually much better to keep it confidential between the two parties. I am not going to comment on speculation in the papers and what people have been saying, because if we want to get a sensible agreement for Hong Kong, which Hong Kong wants, which China wants and which Britain wants, then its best to do that confidentially.

It has been widely reported, that is what the Chinese want, and it has been refused by the British side?

Lots of things have been widely reported. I am not going to comment on what has been reported. I will

comment on fact and as I said I won't comment on the

detail that it is going on at the moment but I will

comment as soon as the talks have been concluded. There

will be a lot of comment then.

Q:

But you would not disagree that was one of the things

being suggested?

I am not agreeing or disagreeing, I am not commenting.
