On my return to Hong Kong from Peking, I saw a copy of Lord Caithness' minute to the Secretary of State on his visit to Hong Kong in July.
In paragraph three of this minute, I see that Lord Caithness comments that the UK has "lost out on the five big contracts issued so far" in relation to the airport. In fact, only four major contracts have been signed so far three on the West Kowloon reclamation and one on the airport advance works. One of these the construction of the Yaumatei replacement typhoon shelter phase I went to Gammon Construction Limited (50% Trafalgar House, 50% Jardine Matheson) at a contract sum of $234.82 million.
You might like to clarify this point with Lord
Caithness.
