is responsible for providing Forces Post Office and Courier services to the Garrison. No enhancements will be required to the detachment,
but it should come under command, as a detachment, of 2 Postal and Courier Regiment. The routing of mail and courier through another "port" would probably require a detachment
detachment representative at that
location (possibly Singapore). However, the direct route Brunei/UK
will have to be investigated.
22.
Garrison Works Section. The Garrison Works Section, responsible
for all military works within

required with technical support provided from UKLF. The level of technical expertise required will have to be re-appraised and an additional technical management post may be required if the Garrison
remains beyond 1998.
23. Chaplains. Under current arrangements, Chaplains visit the
Garrison on a regular basis from Hong Kong as arranged by BFHK. No dedicated support in Brunei is required, other than the resident
battalion Gurkha Bahun. Therefore these Chaplains visits should
continue, on a regular basis, from the UK.
24. Transport. All transport support to the Garrison is provided
through the Brunei Troop GTR. This will continue, with staff and
technical support from the higher HQ. This support requirement should be reduced with the planned purchase of an indigenous non-operational
vehicle fleet.
It
25. Movements. Once the Brunei Garrison becomes independent of Hong Kong, all movements from the UK should utilise the route that will be
in use post June 1997. Given current air and sea routes, and schedules to Brunei, the most suitable route is via Singapore.

a weekly direct flight to London (Gatwick) that may be suitable for
an MOD charter. The support of the Garrison will have to be met by
