SYNOPSIS OF CONCLUSIONS
1.
The reduction in Army Supporting Arms
Army Supporting Arms and Services will in general take place in 3 phases: following the withdrawal of the first Gurkha battalion; following the withdrawal of
of the second Gurkha
battalion and following cessation

this Annex.

Withdrawal of the First Battalion. The withdrawal of the first
battalion in 1992 should allow a slight reduction in some of the Army
supporting Arms and Services. In principle the following reductions should be possible:

One Rear Link Detachment (RLD) and elements of the Border
administration cell (Border 'Q' Cell) from QG SIGNALS.
Minor reductions within GTR.
Approx 10% of the staff of the supply organisation.
A few posts from maintenance units.
Pay staff integral to the withdrawing battalion.
The majority of the DASU Border Detachment.
The Gurkha Children's School from the vacated barracks.
A medical centre, Gurkha Families Hospital and its staff
from the vacated barracks.
Withdrawal of the Second Battalion. The withdrawal of the second
battalion should allow greater reductions in Army supporting Arms and
Services. In general terms the following reductions should be
possible:
