A CNS report (in PDOE of 25 Oct) said work had begun on 29 September, and was expected to be completed in 1994, on a project to increase the supply of water from the East River to Shenzhen and Hong Kong. The total annual supply would be increased to 1,743m cu.m and that to Hong Kong to 1,100m cu.m (from 620 cu.m).

transparency redevelopment plans and tighten controls over the operation of the corporation.

It listed the main provisions of the treaty, including the cession of the southern part of Kowloon (which it noted had previously been leased to the British) and the opening of several Chinese ports to foreign The latter was said to be not necessarily a bad
