VISIT TO LONDON OF THE GOVERNOR OF HONG KONG:
21-26 JUNE 1991
The Governor of Hong Kong will visit London from
21-26 June. The Foreign Secretary suggests that this
would provide a good opportunity for the Prime Minister to see Sir David Wilson.
The Prime Minister last met the Governor on 6
December 1990, together with members of the Executive Council. Since then a number of important and difficult Hong Kong issues have reached a critical point, notably the airport project and the general handling of our relations with China over Hong Kong.
A meeting next month would therefore be timely. It would go down well in Hong Kong if the Prime Minister
could demonstrate in this way his continuing personal
interest in the affairs of the territory.
