PROPOSED BRIEFING IN HONG KONG FOR MEMBERS OF CPA UK BRANCH
Thank you for calling about the stopover in Hong Kong 12th/13th September proposed for Members of a CPA UK Branch delegation returning from Australia.
The UK Branch sends a delegation to Australia most years, and these delegations usually stop in Hong Kong for 24 hours on the way home because we see this as an excellent opportunity for Members to call on a sister Branch in We the Far East and to learn about Hong Kong in an informal but informed way. propose that this year's delegation to Aŭstralia stop over in Hong Kong Thursday 12th/Friday 13th September. I attach copies of faxes by me to the CPA Hong Kong Branch.
If the CPA Hong Kong Branch approves the CPA Branch proposal to stop over, two delegates, Mr Graham Allen MP and Baroness Lockwood, have asked to stay on in Hong Kong for further briefing. Neither has visited Hong Kong before and both profess themselves fairly ignorant of the Territory. The CPA UK Branch has no objection to this proposal but will pay for Members' accommodation only up to the time the delegation leaves its Hong Kong hotel for the airport on the evening of Friday 13th September. I ask your advice as to whether the Hong Kong Government would be willing to arrange a programme for these Members on Monday 16th and Tuesday 17th September. Mr Jim Callaghan MP and Mr Jim Couchman MP have also shown some interest.
I enclose biographical notes on the four Members concerned.
Please ask if you want any further information. As always we much appreciate your cooperation and assistance.
