recent international/conference in Hong Kong on the Bill of Rights, I sent you copy of the paper I prepared for the conference.
I now attach copy of a paper prepared for the Centenary Conference of the History Department of the University of Sydney in which I deal with the beginning and the end of British rule in Hong Kong.
I regret to say, as an Anglophile and admirer of many things British, that the end is fast developing to be as shabby as the beginning. This is the view I have expressed in my paper and it was reinforced by my observations at the recent conference in Hong Kong.
