UK/AUSTRALIAN POLITICAL TALKS
You asked what we could try to extract from the talks, and what issues you might raise.
1.
2. We see no essential objectives or issues regarding South Asia, where Australian activity and interest appear thin. Possible issues might include Indian Ocean (but we don't have much to say); human rights in Sri Lanka (provided Australia have an aid interest); and the usual internal/regional developments including India/Pakistan/Karachi etc. Otherwise the obvious question would be what priority Australia gives to South Asia.
