I have sent Canberra a telegram, which you will see in the distribution, asking them to settle on 7 and 8 May for these talks. Please block these dates off in your diary, bearing in mind that it takes over 24 hours to get to Australia and the same to get back. In the telegram, I volunteer you for a seminar on Asia/Pacific, ie.

extra day in Canberra, should the High Commission succeed in getting the Australian National University to arrange one.

2. Refer your manuscript minute on my minute of 24 January, from time to time the Australians do ask us about our views on Indian Ocean security, and I think it is quite likely that in the event they will get on to this subject in or around the talks.
