To recruit the number of Administrative Officers necessary to meet present and future manpower needs
To enhance officers' understanding of China and generally equip them for more effective contact with PRC officials in the future
Latest Position
Out of the 30 new appointees recruited in 1990, 3 have yet to report duty. As regards the 1991 recruitment exercise, 3,840 candidates have been invited to sit for the written examination held in November: 62 in Australia, 333 in North America, 151 in United Kingdom and 3,294 in Hong Kong. Results of the written examination will be available by March 1991 followed by selection interviews conducted in Hong Kong and overseas.

The four-day seminar held between 26 - 30 November attended by 30 directorate officers : 22 from Administrative Service and 8 from departmental grades. view of the favourable response, another seminar will be held for directorate officers in March/April 1991. Administrative Officers. Separate arrangements are being made for a seminar focusing on latest political developments in China and their impact on its domestic policies. The seminar is scheduled for 17 January 1991 and will be attended by Administrative Officers.
