To consider the need for changes in the light
of developments
since the last overall review in 1979.
Work on the final phase of the review which covers the remaining grades has been completed. The report covering this phase is expected to be submitted at the end of December, in which case ExCo's advice on the recommendations is expected to be sought on 8 January 1991. The majority of grades covered by this phase of the review are likely to receive broadbanded pay improvements, particularly junior staff at the level of school certificate and below, and Workmen I and II. Notwithstanding inevitable criticism, most grades are expected to accept the Standing Commission's recommendations.
