Regulation 14 (1) is amended

(a) by repealing "within such period as is specified in

regulation 12, shall, subject to paragraph (2) and

section" and substituting

(b)

"not later than 14 days after the day following

the expiration of the nomination period, shall,

subject to paragraph (2) and section 5H (2) or";

and

by repealing "paragraphs (a), (b) and (c) of

regulation 4" and substituting "regulation 4 (1) or

(2) "

Regulation 14 is amended by adding after paragraph (1)

" (1A) Where in any constituency no candidate is validly

nominated or every validly nominated candidate has withdrawn

under regulation 10 or 11, the returning officer, not later

than 14 days after the day following the expiration of the

nomination period, shall, subject to paragraph (2) and section

5H (2) or 24 (2) of the Ordinance, publish in the Gazette a

notice of by-election to fill any vacancy in that

constitutency containing the particulars set out in regulation

4 (1) or (2) and shall proceed to hold a by-election

accordingly.".
