CHANGE IN THE IMMIGRATION RULES (RULE 58)
0:
How many Hong Kong people have indefinite leave to remain (ILR)?
-
The Home Office do not keep figures. Strictly speaking,
ILR actually lapses when any individual leaves the UK and a
new ILR is granted on his return.
Q:
How many Hong Kong people have lost ILR since the change of Rules?
- We have checked with the Home Office, who are monitoring
the situation. The only case of which we are aware is that
of Mr Au Yeung.
Q:
How many Hong Kong people have been admitted as returning residents (ie given ILR) since the Rule changes?
From May to September, 1958 Hong Kong BDTCs were admitted
as returning residents. This is 396 more than the same period in 1989.
