Dear Me Riffen

Thank you for joining us at the meeting on Monday.

As you will see, Rule 58 has had some publicity in the press and I attached an aide memoire on the subject.

As we explained at the meeting, it was disappointing that at the same time as the 50,000 passports were being approved, that there should be steps taken by the Home Office which would encourage Hong Kong people to move to the United Kingdom. Anything you can do to help in drawing our concerns to the attention of the Government would be much appreciated.

Thank you for your overall interest and support for Hong Kong and I hope we will see you again in the not too distant future.

Best wishes,

Yours sincerely,

Martin Barrow
