Dear Dagles

I have recently visited Hong Kong at the invitation of its Government. I had a fascinating week, and spent most of the time listening.

I enclose representations I have received from Mr Martin Barrow, a member of the Legislative Council, concerning Vietnam and also concerning Immigration Rule 58.

I also enclose a further representation on Rule 58 from Mrs IP Poon Kam-yee, on behalf of the Secretary General of OMELCO.- 'C:

Finally I enclose a letter from Mr Tom Hope of the British Citizens for Hong Kong setting out measures which he thinks would help sustain confidence in the Island.

In each instance I promised that I would refer their observations to the Foreign Office, and I would be grateful if you could let me have your comments.

I am sending a copy of my letter to Lord Caithness who was in Hong Kong at the same time although our paths didn't cross.
